The Brantley Lake State Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts in Southern New Mexico. Drop a line along the 31 miles of shoreline to fish for largemouth bass, channel catfish, walleye, and white bass. Carlsbad Caverns National Park
The Carlsbad Caverns National Park is comprised of more than 110 limestone caves in the Guadalupe Mountains. Carlsbad Cavern is the most famous cavern in the park and was formed from aggressive sulfuric acid. The unique cave formations have been growing over the last million years, from rain soaking through the limestone and into the cave. Visitors on a self-guided or ranger-led tour see the stalactites, soda straws, flowstone, totem poles, lily pads and cave pools during their tour.
Explore the 22 different cavern rooms along the route, including the Underground Lunchroom, where visitors eat underground in the cafeteria built in the 1950s. Living Desert Zoo & Gardens State Park
The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens State Park showcases over 40 animals species and hundreds of plants native to the Chihuahuan Desert of New Mexico. The 1.3 mile self-guided tour allows visitors to see the endangered gray wolves, the kit fox, badger, elk and bison.
