Carlsbad Caverns National Park
The Carlsbad Caverns National Park is comprised of more than 110 limestone caves in the Guadalupe Mountains. Carlsbad Cavern is the most famous cavern in the park and was formed from aggressive sulfuric acid. The unique cave formations have been growing over the last million years, from rain soaking through the limestone and into the cave. Visitors on a self-guided or ranger-led tour see the stalactites, soda straws, flowstone, totem poles, lily pads and cave pools during their tour.
Explore the 22 different cavern rooms along the route, including the Underground Lunchroom, where visitors eat underground in the cafeteria built in the 1950s. Other area parks to visit while in Carlsbad include, the Living Desert Zoo & Gardens State Park and the Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Rest comfortably after a day of exploring the area, as a guest of Best Western hotels. Enjoy your time in Southern New Mexico.
